πŸ’‘ Trick & Tips

The SharePoint Managed Path is part of all of your SharePoint sites. Have you already noticed that all SharePoint sites URLs look like this:
- <yourdomain>.sharepoint.com/[managed path]/your-site

Previously, on SharePoint On-Premises, administrators could manage them by adding, removing, and customizing them. With SharePoint Online, it is not possible anymore. You can deal only with two managed paths:

  • teams
  • sites

By default, "sites" is the managed path for all SharePoint sites. The administrators can change this setting and define "teams" by default. This change does not affect existing sites, but only the new ones.

Being able to determine which SharePoint site is linked to a Microsoft 365 group/team, without having to check the properties but only based on the URL can be useful.
Imagine, all of your SharePoint sites with a Microsoft 365 group/teams have a URL with /teams/ and all others with /sites/.
That is something helpful for you?

  • As a user, you can directly identify the "type" of SharePoint
  • As an admin, you can create easily some rules (regex) based on the URL format
  • As a communication department, you can instore that all /sites/ are "official" and you can deal with collaboration sites. Ex: /teams/finances and /sites/finances

Now, as a user, you can create a new Theme and provide a custom font per SharePoint site collection.

Relative URL to access the site branding: /_layouts/15/brandcenter.aspx/sharepoint/themes

Stream

New video from Outlook

You can now, directly from Microsoft Outlook, record a new video (stored in your OneDrive My files > Recordings > Video Clips ) and share it via email.
Note that the video is contained in a Loop component in the email body.
No need to record and share the video via a preconfigured Loop component or through attachment now... that can be a real gain in productivity
